2000 - FOLKLORE AND KNIGHTS, BEGINNINGS OF COOPERATION WITH HISTORICAL WEEKEND IN PILSEN

In 2000, a closer cooperation with the event Historical Weekend was commenced. The event called Historical Weekend is organized by the Foundation 700 years of the City of Pilsen. This cooperation meant a new tradition for Pilsen when during one weekend in June the participants of the folklore festival mixed with the performers of the Historical Weekend (knights, historical characters, musicians, etc.) in the city centre and in that way the programmes of both events were mutually enriched. This new cooperation was under the patronage of the Mayor of Pilsen, Mr Jiri Sneberger. The director of the festival became Ms Michaela Vondrackova (Benesova).

The festival programme was completed by two new elements:

- a folklore costume parade through the green park area in the city centre,
- performances of foreign folklore ensembles on the stage of the Historical Weekend festival.
