Stavbár
Žilina, Slovensko
Festival years: 2002, 2025
Folk Ensemble Stavbár was founded in 1959 at Pozemné stavby Žilina. Over its long history, the selection of folk material and the method of processing have changed. Currently, Stavbár focuses on creative processing of authentic folk material as well as stylized presentations. The individual choreographies primarily come from the northwest of Slovakia (Považský Chlmec, Čičmany, Zuberec, Fačkova, etc.), but also from other regions of Slovakia (Pozdišovce, Polomka, Heľpa, Pohorelá, Šumiac, etc.). Since 1997, the ensemble has been part of the University of Žilina.
FS Stavbár regularly performs in Slovakia and abroad (it has already performed at various locations in Europe, Asia, and South America). Last year, the ensemble celebrated its 65th anniversary, and the highlight of the celebration was the very successful premiere of the full-length program Pramene ("Sources"), which has already been seen by more than 1,100 viewers. The ensemble is coming to the Pilsen festival for the second time, this year as part of the 15th anniversary of the partner cities Pilsen and Žilina.
