The Large Wind Orchestra was founded in 1976. Today, the band has 50 members aged between 10 and 25 years. Over the years, the orchestra has established itself as one of the successful wind orchestras in the region and has become an integral part of the cultural life in Pilsen. This is evidenced by numerous awards received at competitions and festivals both in the Czech Republic and abroad (Hungary, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Croatia, etc.).
The orchestra achieved its greatest success in 2004 and 2010 when it won 1st prize at the national competition of youth wind orchestras. In 2017, the orchestra earned a Silver Band award in Letovice.
