Pšeničky
Nepomuk, Česká republika
Festival years: 2024
The ensemble has been working for the tenth year, originally as a children's folk ensemble of ZUŠ Nepomuk, today as an independent folk ensemble. It chose its name from the song "Zelenaly se pšeničky", which it learned first. The ensemble introduces listeners to folk music and folk traditions and customs from Nepomuk, Žinkovsko, Horažďovicko, Blatensko, Strakonicko and Plzeňsko, in an adaptation by the ensemble leader Oldřich Ondrušek. The ensemble participates in cultural events not only in its surroundings, but also beyond the borders of the district - it regularly performs, for example, at the Easter and Christmas markets on the Square of the Republic in Pilsen and at the Crafts Market in the Pilsen Zoo. Pšeničky has also performed in Germany and Luxembourg. The ensemble currently has 14 members, including 3 adults and 11 children aged 10-18. The motto of the ensemble is: "As the ears of wheat ripen, so will our songs."
