Mana Ma'ohi
Hanga Roa, Velikonoční ostrov
Festival years: 2025
The Mana Ma'ohi group was founded in 2011 with the goal of restoring the cultural identity of young people from Easter Island (Rapa Nui) — through the use of the local language as well as traditional music and dance expressions. Over the years, the group has become highly significant in the promotion and development of Easter Island’s culture. It has become a haven for masters and students of various forms of traditional arts, who work together to preserve ancient traditions through original stage performances.
The group places strong emphasis on education and on the quality of its costumes, always respecting cultural context. The motivation of what is now the large Mana Ma'ohi family lies in honoring the ancestors and the heritage they have received. They support cultural development on local, national, and international levels, proving that isolation from the world does not mean a lack of artistic excellence.
